PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
Thomas Berg is from Sweden, has a B.Sc. in biological sciences, a M.Sc. in marine biology and a Ph.D. in environmental sciences. He has more than 10 years’ experience in aquaculture and sustainable agriculture and has worked in several business and educational projects in South America, Asia and Africa. He has worked as chief operating officer in aquaculture projects in China, Brazil, Singapore and Mozambique, and also worked as a consultant in several other projects worldwide. Throughout his academic years, he has participated in research in areas such as fish ecology and taxonomy, river ecology, microalgae biotechnology, marine seagrass ecology, plankton ecology, plant ecophysiology, water management and climate change. He also supervised students (B.Sc. and M.Sc. level) both in academia and in projects. He currently lives between Sweden and Brazil, but also has lived in China, Singapore and Mozambique in the past 20 years. Between projects, he also works with scientific, educational and environmental communication, at his company, The Natural Media, teaching and training researchers and students in how to better communicate their projects and work.
